Plugin Guide

Run Synthetic Archetype without leaving your editor. The Archetype plugin turns Claude Code into an automated tester that adopts your customer personas, drives Chrome through real user scenarios, and reports structured feedback back to your account.

Prerequisites

Install

Inside Claude Code, run:

/plugin marketplace add https://github.com/MCxiaoguu/Archetype_Plugin
/plugin install archetype@archetype

Verify with /plugin — archetype should be listed as installed.

Connect

/archetype:setup

The onboarding command: it runs the login wizard (device-flow authentication — approve once in your browser), then shows the connection dashboard and suggests first steps. Sign in with your Synthetic Archetype account — the same one you use in the Web Portal. (/archetype:validation with no arguments opens the same wizard.)

Commands

No need to type the prefix

You don't have to type archetype: — type / plus the start of the command name (say, /setup or /validation) and pick the command from Claude Code's autocomplete.

CommandWhat it does
/archetype:setupOnboarding — login wizard, then the connection dashboard and first steps
/archetype:personaPersona dashboard — your replay, vibe, and custom personas by name; /archetype:persona new creates one through a short questionnaire
/archetype:validationThe validation run — a goal and/or url=<...>, with optional persona="<name>" to pin who runs it; no arguments opens the login wizard
/archetype:validate-featureValidate one of your saved features by name
/archetype:list-featuresBrowse your saved features
/archetype:check-run-status <run_id>Check the status, progress, and results of a run
/archetype:statusShow the connection status dashboard (login and session health)

Run a validation

Give /archetype:validation a goal and a URL — and optionally pin the persona who runs it by name:

/archetype:validation validate the signup flow url=http://url-to-your-demo
/archetype:validation validate checkout url=http://url-to-your-demo persona="Maya the skeptical IT admin"

Or just ask in plain language once the plugin is installed:

"Validate the checkout feature at url-to-your-demo and tell me what broke."

A browser window will open

Validation runs drive a real Chrome session — expect a browser window or tab to open and navigate on its own while the persona works through your product. Let it run; don't close it mid-test.

Token usage

Depending on the page size and test depth, a validation run may use between 30k and 200k tokens.

Interactive choices

The plugin doesn't guess on ambiguity. When your request leaves a real decision open — say you describe personas that don't exactly match your saved ones — Claude opens an interactive picker right in the terminal to refine the choice before the run starts:

text
Persona A (impatient vibe-coding solo founder): use the existing match
or create a new persona from your description?

❯ 1. Use the closest existing persona (Recommended)
Existing vibe persona: solo technical founder of an early-stage
B2B SaaS. Closest match; impatience isn't explicit in their story
     but the profile is near.
  2. Create new persona
Generate and save a fresh persona from your exact words.
  3. Type something.

Enter to select · Tab/Arrow keys to navigate · Esc to cancel

Pick an option — or just type what you want — and the run continues with your choice.

Keep the plugin up to date

Installing subscribed you to the archetype marketplace (the GitHub repo you added). Two ways to stay current:

Automatic (recommended). Third-party marketplaces have auto-update off by default — turn it on once: run /plugin, open the Marketplaces tab, select archetype, and choose Enable auto-update. Claude Code then refreshes the catalog and updates the plugin in the background after startup; when an update lands, it prompts you to run /reload-plugins (otherwise the new version loads on your next launch).

Manual. Refresh the catalog and reload whenever you want the latest:

/plugin marketplace update archetype
/reload-plugins

Housekeeping, from the same tooling:

CommandWhat it does
/pluginInteractive manager — Discover, Installed, Marketplaces, and Errors tabs
/plugin listList installed plugins without opening the menu
/plugin disable archetype@archetypeTurn the plugin off without uninstalling
/plugin enable archetype@archetypeTurn it back on
/plugin uninstall archetype@archetypeRemove it completely
